Get rid of keloids without surgery. Our support is individualized. It will vary depending on your symptoms and your expectations.

Causes of keloid

The keloid typically affects patients between the ages of 10 and 20, and research shows that up to 15% of injuries result in keloids. Keloids are known as a congenital disease, which means that they are passed down from generation to generation in families. African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics have a higher risk of getting keloids because their skin contains a lot of pigments or dyes. They are 15 times more likely to get keloids than people with less pigmented skin.

Several types of sores are also at greater risk of developing into keloids, including:

  • Acne
  • Burns
  • Varicella
  • Scratch
  • Ear piercing
  • Incisions made during surgery
  • Vaccination scars

Main symptoms of keloid

The following signs are keloids:

  • Bright, pink or red
  • Swelling (bumps) or wrinkles
  • Itchy
  • Soft
  • Easy to get irritated when exposed to rubbing
  • Keep growing
  • The color becomes darker than the surrounding skin when exposed to the sun

If it itches, it means that the keloid is completely harmless. The main concern with keloids is usually beauty, especially if the keloid is growing on an easily visible part of the body, such as the face.

Causes and natural solutions of certain keloids

Piercing

A needle stick to poke a hole in the skin is also at risk of developing keloids. Infection can occur if the tools used during piercing are not sterile or if post-piercing healing / care procedures are not followed (for example, frequently touching the piercing wound with dirty hands). Even if you and your hygiene kit follow the rules, infection can occur, for example because the hole is too tight, so there is not enough room for the wound to breathe and heal naturally.

First aid:

- If the puncture wound has an infection, clean it with mineral water mixed with salt. Avoid using topical antibiotics, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide, as they can make the sore worse.

- For a puncture wound infection in the earlobe, you should see a doctor immediately, as cartilage tissue damage in the earlobe usually requires oral antibiotics.

Tattoo

The next cause of keloids is tattoo scars. These scars can also become infected if the equipment used is not sterile or if the following treatments are not followed correctly. The risk of infection from tattoos is greater because usually the area of the skin where the needle is pierced is wider (depending on the size of the tattoo). Bacteria are also more likely to enter and cause infection.

First aid:

- In case of infection, wash the wound with an antiseptic at least every 3 days.

- Do not scratch the wound or exfoliate dry skin.

- When drying scars, use paper towels and not rags, cotton swabs or handkerchiefs which can leave residue on the scar and stick permanently.
